How long have you been in the industry? How long have you been at DEI? I have been doing CAD work for 22 years and have been at DEI for 3 years.
Where did you go to school/receive your training? University of Washington – I learned CAD on the job as an undergraduate working at a laboratory at UW. Part of my job was to monitor the particle accelerator during experiments which allowed me to spend many hours doing homework and learning useful skills like how to use AutoCAD. I also did quite a bit of drafting and CAD programming as part of my job there. I have taken CAD classes at Lake Washington Technical college as well.
What projects are you currently working on? I am currently working on McDonalds Hollywood – Portland, Lake Washington Physical Therapy TI, and a single-family house remodel.
What is your favorite project you’ve worked on in your career? My favorite project was programming AutoCAD in the early days before AutoCAD had many commands. The engineers would give me a wish list and I would use AutoLISP to make the commands they requested. It was a lot of fun and I have always enjoyed programming.
What would you be doing if you were not a CAD designer? I believe I might be a game designer or a professional guardian for people who are incapacitated or vulnerable adults.
Where were you born/did you grow up? I was born and raised in Seattle
Where is the farthest place you have traveled? The farthest place I have traveled is Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas.
What is something about you that would surprise people? I have a degree in Physics as well as a 2-year degree in Social & Human Services.
