While Michael has been structural drafting at DEI for 4 years, he has been drafting in various disciplines for going on 22 years. He attended night classes at ITT Technical College in Bothell to earn his AA degree in computer-aided drafting technology, all while holding down a full-time job. Michael’s first job after graduating was doing civil drafting for Triad Associates.

The most challenging project he has worked on to date was a large aluminum trellis. “The challenge was creating the frame and parts in CAD making sure that all the holes for the connections would line up for putting it together in the field,” Michael shares about the experience.

Michael’s favorite part about being a CAD designer is: “The variety of projects from residential to commercial and everything in between. There’s never a dull moment.”

The furthest place he has traveled is Riyad, Saudi Arabia for Desert Storm while stationed with Central Command when he was in the U.S. Air Force. He was also stationed just down the road from Diyarbakir in eastern Turkey.

Michael’s favorite place to vacation is Leavenworth, WA. “We went there for our honeymoon and fell in love with the place, and we go back often.”
